The most yielding rotation is based on Instinctual Appraisal which need manual adaption in nearly every step.
No, it doesn’t. The simple “UC > InA > SM > InA > SM > InA > SM > InA” works like a charm; you don’t need ilvl460 facet gear to use it, you don’t even need pentamelds on ilvl430 gear – just meld some GP materia to reach 800 GP, and you are all set.
However, Stickler in the end helps sometimes, yes (even though chances that you will need it because of being unlucky with all FOUR InA’s are quite slim).
I do have HQ regular lvl 80 gathering equip (which is where the problem begins, but that is another story).
There is no problem, actually. Thanks to patch 5.1, you can farm white (or rather yellow, doesn’t matter) gatherer scrips using old ilvl430 eq w/o even melds, and still have 100% gathering chance from legendaries AND capped collectability at the same time. Problems start elsewhere – at the market… when you try to sell your loot bought for scrips. Prices have dropped down by at least 1/3 since that patch 🙁
anyone else getting mount stuck while going for scuroglow?
Nobody said that grinding ephemerals is an easy business. And besides, since this topic popped up, scuroglow prices have gone down 4x @EU and 5-6x+ @US, so… don’t expect megaprofits.
Careful Synthesis is implemented but is not preferred.
Please note that it’s not a direct upgrade over Basic Synthesis, because it requires additional CP. Crafting Solver calculates all possible outcomes and if it finds a way to utilize CP more efficiently, Careful Synthesis will not be triggered. It has a higher chance to trigger when paired with Ingenuity, but this is also not guaranteed. From what I checked since 5.1 start, synthesis actions are pretty much balanced now (unlike before, and unlike touch actions – basic and standard ones are quite useless still). If you take into account that basic synthesis is not “free” (as it costs 10 durability, and in turn it costs 24 CP to restore 10 dur via Manipulation), CS actually brings more progress per CP than BS – when teamed with Inge and Innova:
Inge > Inno > 4x BS = 2 * 1.2 * 4 * 120% = 1152% / (22 + 18 + 24*4) = 1152% / 136 = 8.47% progress per CP spent
Inge > Inno > 4x CS = 2 * 1.2 * 4 * 150% = 1440% / (22 + 18 + (7+24)*4) = 1440% / 164 = 8.78% progress per CP spentGranted, in many cases basic is preferred over careful (especially taking into account that we have no more Mend II, so we are forced to use 2x Manipulation, so we are left with more extra durability, but less CPs)… but still, it’s matter of exact stats and exact recipe – sometimes you just have to use CS because you simply do not have enough dur, or you do not have enough space in “buffed sets”. Also, from my experiments, Great Strides > Inge > Inno > PrepTouch > Great Strides > Byregot > CS is an ABSOLUTE winner as finisher, for both materials and eq 🙂
And the chances that Miqobot will implement automated hunt train joining are very low, since there are a lot of other players around and it could possibly risk a high level of attention.
Do you know what’s the best place to hide a leaf? That’s some forest, yea. There is SO friggin many people in the hunt train so it’s not that just nobody gives a wonderful flying fuck about actions of other players… it’s way simplier: nobody can even see anything in this spam made by 100+ players :)) I don’t even see the boss itself until it’s half hps down, because of insane traffic (and, well, because of me running several accounts from the same PC at once, too)!
@arc: thx, so we just get some popcorn and wait I guess…
@lutbot: if you are crafter, then you are right, probably… though, what if you are just a secondary purely farming account, which has nothing but DoL skills trained? I bet you don’t need blue stuff for augmentation anyway (as new 460th eq is much stronger because of being socketed => potential pentameld), so in case any need arises, we can just buy this new stuff anytime. I just wonder WHEN does this “need arises”? Definitely not right now, hehe.
Guys who use bot mostly for gathering… did someone of you understand wtf are they done with gathering stats balance? Before 5.1 it was quite logical. Do you want capped (95%) chance to gather a legendary node? Ovedmeld enough materia to get 2182 gathering. Do you want to buff it up to 100%? ALSO overmeld enough materia to get 850 gp (if you want to have 4 collectable-buffed swings after casting mastery). Oh, and don’t forget also to meld some perception so you won’t miss appraisal cap as well!
Now it’s simply pointless… Why would anyone need new gathering set if you get 100% chance to gather by default (even while gathering new Sandalwood Sap / Beryllium Ore!!!), without any melds? Well maybe you need some GP melds to reach 800 GP threshold, but that’s it. Maybe it’s a glitch actually, which will be fixed soon enough? Or maybe there are some kind of 80** (or even 80***?) materials which I didn’t discover yet, and which actually require new eq for 100% gather chance?
Perhaps this bot could use automated hunt train join implemented some day 😉 I don’t even care to buy old poetics stuff for desynth anymore (because of quite low profit – not even worth my time spent teleporting to Idyllshire), so any new poetics which come from hunts just go to overcap waste… while someone actually wants them as primary objective o_O

This is what makes me ponder: why don’t you just lower price by some 10% to make sure you sell your stuff, and then have your toon free to farm more stuff for the next day(/night) instead of just sitting and checking price during that time?
Because this doesnt guarantee shit. All it does is plummet prices as if there’s a “bot” undercutting, it’ll just undercut you by 1 gil, then you come around and undercut it by 10% and the loop continues.
Even if it was a high ticket item, undercutting by 10% seems like a waste.
So what? The lower your price goes, the higher is chance that someone buys. Moreover, if you pass certain threshold, someone buys all your loot at once!
Let me tell you how does it work from professional farmer PoW. Right now I’m grinding with 4 accounts (and, if none of them get banned before/right after patch 5.1, I plan to buy second comp and start to grind with 8 accounts). All of them need cordials, because they consume it almost by cd. And I know price threshold of cordials for every “my” server! For example, at a given server I’ll buy all cordials put on market at 300 gil or lower. And know what?… I DO NOT CARE if two bots play their 1 gil game with cordial price, gradually lowering it from, say, 340 to 320 gil: I will not buy anyway! I won’t buy even at 301 gil. Do you want to sell it? Put it at 300.
Well, sometimes you are right: it does not guarantee shit. Once my char gets 2 full stacks of cordials (2000+), I stop buying for some time and lower my threshold by 50 gil. Yes, I was buying at 400 and even 500 gil before, but it was long ago, when patch 5.0 was just out… But anyway, if I stopped to buy at 300, playing 1 gil game will NOT HELP. Lower your price by 20 or 40 or even 50 gil – gradually you figure out new threshold.
Absolutely the same thing works for selling. Say, I bulk farm certain material, which sells at a given server at 5500 gil. Let’s say I woke up, checked market and realized that my retainers are empty, and lowest price for this material at the market is 7000. Does it mean that I put my freshly farmed loot at 6999? NO! Because I know: nobody would buy it. Well, maybe some casual desperate crafter buys a stack or two, but it won’t help me: I need to sell lots of stacks, and I know my bulk buyer won’t buy at such a high price [anymore]. Moreoevr, he won’t buy at 6k, 5800 or even 5600 (and YES I tried)! So I just put new loot at 5500 (no matter of current market price) and go to farm more… as simple as that.
The opposite happens more often: I wake up and realize that nothing is sold. Do I care? No. Well, in most cases – no. My buyer is a living human, and (s)he can have a holiday, right? Tomorrow I’ll get everything sold anyway. Or maybe day after tomorrow. Of course, when I get several full stacks of loot, I realize that my buyer won’t buy at this price anymore, and reduce it by 500 gil… then cycle repeats.
Now try to guess if a need any special bot for it 😛 Oh, and besides, this tactic works not just in FFXIV – I use it for more than ten years so far, in various games.
- This reply was modified 5 years, 2 months ago by Gray.
Even if there was it wouldnt really help because everybody would be using it.
There is another reason why it won’t help: your toon is not Hermione Granger (I bet), and can’t be at two different places at the same time. So, while you stand near market board and check prices every 5 secs – you don’t grind, you don’t craft, you don’t do ANYTHING else which makes profit. You basically lose hours and hours and hours of bot time to make sure you sell your stuff just some 10-20 gil cheaper than your initial price.
This is what makes me ponder: why don’t you just lower price by some 10% to make sure you sell your stuff, and then have your toon free to farm more stuff for the next day(/night) instead of just sitting and checking price during that time?
agreed with gray, Ive never really thought about RMT, but i heard maybe playerauction is a okay place?
It just doesn’t allow me in. As soon as I register an account, it instantly gets suspended, no matter which proxy or which comp I use… Seems that PA owners are just too paranoid, and/or too seriously enforcing US sanctions against Crimea.
oh and if you have any tips for me gray in making gil, would be appreciated hahaha =D
I bet you would 😛
Damn. Last time I checked the price was at around 1.80$/mil and only if you bought in bulk, like 50+ million at once. 1m was at around 2.50$, when I checked last. That was around patch 4.5 though.
Yea, most of them actually sell at $2 or so. Looks like these morons think that setting up a middleman buying/selling site and upkeeping it is 3x harder than setting up bot, creating and leveling chars, farming stuff, selling it for at least semi-decent gil AND risking bans on top of that. I’d say: f**k these greedy arsez, I just sell directly to players instead.
However, there are some funny sites which sell rather cheap, like $0.7-1 per mil. They don’t buy at all, though… got their own bot farms, probably.
Not really – it solely depends on “what you sell to obtain gil” and “where you sell gil to obtain $$$”. Granted, I can’t farm as much gil as right after ShB was released, but it’s still far from “nothing”. Selling gil is a bit harder, though… I still can’t find a decent marketplace which a) would allow me in, and b) is popular enough among EU and US players. Chinese shops don’t pay more than half a dollar per mil, so I guess I just wait until 5.1 is out, hardcode players return and gil prices grow at least a bit. Don’t feel like selling cheaper than $1/mil, TBH…
Also a nifty way is taxes, try sending your retainers to the city that has reduce tax or no tax rate at all, smart buyers will buy more from that city.
Problem is: buyers always pay 5% tax if they are buying from a city which is not the city your retainer resides in, even if retainer’s city has reduced taxes. These reduced taxes apply on seller only. Of course, buyer might as well port to your retainer’s city… or not, and prefer someone who sells at 1-2 gil higher price than you, but is located in his current city.
This is a question which troubles me for weeks, actually: Limsa or Crystarium? More sales due to visitors from other servers, or 3% less taxes?
Or simply never unstealth at all. If you can stealth while mounted, the movement penalty won’t be a problem and mobs will never attack you, since you’re perma-stealthed.
Who knows… maybe it won’t be as easy as that. I mean, there might be still some kind of penalty, because otherwise it just sounds too easy and obvious.

It’s a bit outdated, but it will go for you until you hit lvl70 with crafters (after that there are small replacements in the list – for example, Waste Not becomes quite useful again, to be used before Preparatory Touch).
