In spite of MANY hardships I’m sure, the fact that Miqobot is alive again really does illustrate the tenacity and sheer determination of the team, and indeed all the Ukrainian people, as grandiose as that may sound. It’s really incredible the sort of sheer will it must take to do this while living in an active warzone.
We in the west have no real understanding of the sorts of tragedy and senseless loss of life this war has brought to Ukraine’s doorstep. Last year when this conflict first began, Miqo posted something saying this aggression has worldwide implications. At the time, I was dubious. One year later, I can’t believe how wrong I was. Putin is a madman nearing his deathbed, and this conflict has only grown more protracted.
Miqo team, you have my deepest respect now more than ever, and God willing this conflict will end soon without WW3 ensuing thereafter.
Reaper, Monk, and Samurai are playing fairly competently now, with Samurai being especially notable in terms of improvement. Havent tested Dragoon yet, but these melee jobs being updated to 90 along with the updated expert craft solver, is certainly impressive considering the environment the devs are working in currently.
Will it be supported in the future?
The Chinese version is a good market.
If CN support comes at a later point, it’s a good bet that it will need to wait until the crisis in Ukraine ends.
In a word, no.
I recently spent a long time looking at other products/alternatives, and frankly the other offerings pale in comparison.
Spend some time googling, hit up some community Discord servers maybe, but this really isn’t the place to ask about competing products regardless of renewing your Miqo license or not.
They want us to look out for ourselves first.
Which would be great advice on it’s face, but they seem to imply that they’re saying this because the invasion of Ukraine is going to disrupt all economies in the world badly enough to cause rampant inflation and famines. This is very unlikely outside the EU, unless things go nuclear. Hell, most Americans don’t even remember/care that Trump was impeached for withholding military aid to Ukraine in 2019. If anything, I think now would be the time to double down on Miqobot development and redefine the future of the project if they truly want to ensure continued income during all of this.
That said, I will continue to renew simply because Miqobot is best in class for what it does, and for what it costs. I say this because I’ve looked into alternative solutions in anticipation of 6.1, and none can compare in terms of capabilities/usability.
To Miqo dev team, please take my comments with a grain of salt, and please stay safe as best you can.
Yet another end user here with a disability/chronic condition, and Miqobot is key to my enjoyment of FFXIV. Even just playing the MSQ has been a challenge for me without it at times. I am beyond thankful that this project has endured this long, and am really looking forward to having her back soon!
It’s my understanding that Wine isn’t actually the only option for running Windows games under Linux anymore. Check out Proton, another compatibility library being developed by Valve. It has varying levels of support for various games, but is under heavy development and has progressed quite well so far. Here’s an article that shows some examples of setting it up for Steam games:

Some games are actually better optimized for Proton versus Wine, especially on higher-end graphics hardware (2070 cards and higher). For FFXIV in particular, Proton may get you better performance versus Wine due to it’s superior implementation of Vulkan and how it translates DX11 calls into Vulkan equivalents.
Solutions like VMware and KVM are much more tech-involved, in terms of setting up GPU hardware acceleration properly for the virtual host.
edit: in terms of running Miqo on Linux natively or via Wine, I’d assume we would need either an updated Linux binary, or source code to compile ourselves, both of which are *BIG* asks and not likely to happen.

I dont get these constant complaints about updates to be honest. Ive been a subscriber for years now and in all this time Miqo did its absolute best for me. Im one of the top crafters, ive cleared multiple raid tiers and two ultimates with her, ive got two large estates and billions of gil, all thanks to Miqo. $10 is such a cheap price for all the crazy features we get. But i guess some people will never be satisfied no matter what. Oh well.
My sentiments exactly. I don’t post often anymore since Miqobot is so comprehensive and generally well-behaved, but wanted to chime in and give my heartfelt thanks to the developers. Miqobot is solely responsible for my continued enjoyment of FFXIV, and I’d likely quit playing entirely if Miqobot ever stopped being maintained.
