You can’t get tells when you’re in a trial, you can’t get tells when you’re in a dungeon, raid, trial instances.

Either it wasn’t a tell (but it was purple, as opposed to white “say”, and it was personal – i.e. not some broadcast yell), or you are wrong. To me it looks like one can receive tells while on trial, but can’t answer.

This is a bad behaviour, you joined a FC but don’t follow its chat, they can now stalk you, talk to you, but you won’t notice it or respond, this is what leads to reports.

Oh, gimme a break :))) There are over 200 players in the FC, some 30-40 of them online at any time of day – who would care to try to tell to everyone online, or remember who talks and who does not, let alone stalk silent ones and spy on their activities? Nobody cares, as far as my experience tells me…

Ignoring tells from regular players is what leads to reports. You should never ignore a tell from a player.

Tells from common players come soooo seldom, so I’d rather ignore them and take some risks, rather than to turn off the whole farm while I’m sleeping / eating / having a walk. After all, lots of players sleep at night as well… combined with scenarios which change botting place every hour it should give almost 100% report resistance.

Like I told you before, an alarm system is already planned within the UI & QoL update phase.

I’m just surprised it wasn’t done yet… I mean, playing .wav files when something wrong occurs (and I mean different sounds for different wrongs – ranged from a short quiet beep to loud long siren which is able not just to wake up sleeping one but even raise dead one, probably) is like… a thing which has to be added once bot has left beta-testing stage, being able to perform at least partially self-sufficient actions for hours? It’s kind of… feedback from your toon, which allows you to move your attention elsewhere, without worrying that smth bad happens and you never realise it until it’s too late.

It displays this same behaviour for both regular players and botters, it doesn’t change a thing, the netcode is like that, you can’t tell a botter from a player with this, you thought it was a clue, it is not, I can have my GF gathering in the same room manually, and appears sliding like this on my screen, while she’s not using a bot.

Well… when I see other players digging together with me, some of them really dismount right on top of the node, while others come close to it (in range of “confirm” / “num 0” action), and then start to dig. So it CAN actually be clue – but it requires other forum members to check it, I think.

Avoid more than 10h botting a day.
Disconnect from the game for 9h a day.

I doubt THIS is the issue. For the last month I play the same account 16-18 hours a day, and I was never contacted by any GM. Moreover, I’ve been receiving tells from players while I was on trial (i.e. was unable to join a FC), but since I’ve joined some random FC (and disabled display of FC chat in the log window, of course), I was left 100% alone.

I also created ACT alerts for some of the GM messages, almost all the youtube videos start with “Greetings <Your CharacterName>) that way I can do work and let ACT use text to speech to alert me.

What a weird way to set up a notification system… Maybe it’s time to file a petition to Miqo team, to add built-it notifications? Smth simple, like “GM tells you something -> play this <insert here .wav selector> sound file”. I mean, you should be able to sleep and ignore tells from common players, but a GM tell should raise major alarm and wake up farm owner!

Anyone can easily tell someone is botting using a gathering bot. Your character slides off the mount directly to the node.

Maybe let’s ask Miqo team also to add some randomness? Say, dismount at x-0.1+rnd()*0.2 will dismount at x-0.1 to x+0.1 instead of exactly at x.

The only safe way to use a bot gathering is to run it on a 2nd monitor while you play something else or watch a movie on the primary monitor. Keep an eye on the chat box too.

This negates the whole point of botting, which is “bot owner can look into some another window while bot handles this one”. A good bot should be self-sufficient, and raise alarm in cases of really out-of-bounds event like GM tell only…

I’d say: ditch both mends and get Leatherworker up to l15 just to obtain Waste Not – IMHO it’s absolutely greatest in terms of durability gain(/save) per CP spent, at least at low levels. Well, I hope Miqobot can use this one as well as Mends…

Hey Gray take a look. Weve got another of those threads: https://miqobot.com/forum/forums/topic/newcomer-unable-to-open-miqobot/

Well why me? I wonder why doesn’t dev team answer in that topic… I mean, it should be quite obvious for a developer: what’s wrong there, and how to avoid that. It could have been added to FAQ, even – a simple list of “what should be whitelisted, what should be added to exceptions and so on”.

a few 1,000 bytes per item

Now I start to wonder: why? Do they store last ten owners of every item or so? Then making a chain of throwaway characters in hope to ensure safety of an RMT transaction has to be completely pointless…

What I requested is a log alert system, triggering alarm for what you choose, emotes, /say, etc. and as well as replicating the important logs in Miqobot window (with the ability to maximise that window), so that when you get a disconnection, you can still read what happened before (did someone waved at you and you didn’t answered, etc.).

I’m not sure what do you call “alarm”, but I’d certainly want to see such thing as sound alarm played by bot (i.e. played even if master volume in the game is set to zero, and you are sleeping near your farm, or, say, just reading forum while your toon works for you). It would attract your attention if something really bad happens (say, other players intervene, or bot is stuck somehow, or *shiver* there is incoming tell from a GM)!

Arc: hmmm weird… either there is something wrong with my client, or I’ve pressed just too many keys while trying to regain control over my char before I realized that it was lag/disconnect.

Lyfox: but you can add the whole Miqobot folder to exceptions (i.e. radar included)? Also, you can turn off AV software while downloading.

Still… now I wonder what does it take to reach Miqobot devs and have them at least consider adding this feature %) Most probably every Miqobot user gains from ability to put their chars on unattended farm somewhere in godforgotten world corner while they sleep, without worrying about inet troubles.

From what I see, once you lose link, game client just auto-closes (or should I say “crashes”?) This basically means: once some window is down, bot has to just restart it and reconnect to it. AV software is not really major problem: you can always add exceptions. On the other hand, logging into account for a bot which is not used to send mouse clicks could be… not as easy to implement.

But then again, a casual player pays for just a single instance of Miqobot monthly, while professional RMT farmer could pay for 10 or 20!

It does not reconnect for you.

Ooh damn… so, basically, a single disconnect while you sleep / away from comp, and the whole your farm is idle until you return?

Did someone ever ask bot dev team to do something about it?

Arc, thank you – got it!

Now an important question I should have asked before… Everyone can suffer from lag and disconnects. In case it happened while farm owner was away, can Miqobot reconnect your account (or rather, an account “designated” for this instance of Miqobot)?

In case it can, another question related to the previous one: can it reconnect account created via Steam (or rather Steam is a major no-no for a botter, as it usually happens in most games)?

And yes there is a trial version for XIV.

Then how does one use it? I mean, I’ve downloaded FFXIVLauncher, it asked me to create account, and now it asks for registration code – without even letting me to download the client (i.e. all 37 Gb rather than small launcher)!

Also, from what I see, I have to pay for both Starter Edition and addons. What is the usual (i.e. recommended / cheapest) way to use it? I can buy a EU Realm Reborn cd-key for about $16 (non-Steam, indeed, as I won’t be able to multi-account using Steam), and then StormBlood + Heavensward for about $23. I take it as the first key is needed to activate the account (and thus download client), while the second one can be bought later, once I reach lvl50?

Also, you’re not forced on picking a server in EU, you can go to any Datacenter regardless of your Square Enix Account region (a EU player with a EU account can play on NA).
You can go to NA, JP or EU, you have the complete freedom to go anywhere

Well I bet… though, I already have 260ms ping to na.finalfantasyxiv.com, which is kind of… a lot, from my experiences. Actually, not that I’m afraid of slow ping that much – I’d say that I’m rather afraid of transatlantic lag.

Any way, I guess I start here, and then consider entering other areas with other accounts.

Try to find someone selling a Legacy account. Google it.

Selling accounts is most probably prohibited by the game EULA (much as everywhere else), so I would have to learn the game first… just to learn how to avoid both bans and scamming (say, selling account to me and then retrieving it back via GMs, telling them that I’ve hijacked that account). I guess I start the first account the common (legit) way, and then I consider other ways once I decide to go for more accounts…

If the web site end up shutting down cause the British player can’t keep it alive after getting his scan accounts banned again, then World Visit won’t really influence the Market, because no player will travel 10 times to check 10 Market Board, unless what they’re looking for is for example what I sell, 40M rare minions, here they better check every single server, it worth spending 5 min to save 15M.

I think there will be some professional traders at each server, making their living by checking other servers of their data center for useful things put for sale at low price (relative to their “home” servers), buying them and reselling at their “home” servers; possibly doing “retail” resell. For example, this behavior is quite common in EVE. All players are in the same realm, yes; still, every space station has its own market, so hauling ammo, batteries and alike consumables from some crafting station to farming one often offers decent profits. I guess we will see such “traveling merchants” in FFXIV too, hehe.

Well, I guess I choose FFXIV – by virtue of this topic, primarily 🙂 So, just to clarify a few technical things:

    1) The official site is https://ffxiv.na.square-enix.com/ , right?
    2) Though, download site is https://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/eu/ ? I mean, I don’t see any links on the official site to just download the client, without buying all that “Warrior of Light” stuff which I probably don’t need.
    3) Then I just register an account on the official site, pay for it (or maybe there is even a trial period?) and play?
    4) Does it require any addons to be downloaded and installed too? I mean, 109Mb is like… a bit too light for graphics I see on video.
