    Topic: Fishing wishlist

So as I have been fishing for a while, I have come across features that would be nice to have.
These are just suggestions though, Miqo is already great enough as it is, so don’t feel forced to implement them.

I already mentioned two in another topic, namely intuition+mooch preset/bait options that activate when mooching during intuition and bite time windows to catch/ignore.

Since then, I tried catching many big fish, and I ran into some inconveniences, so these are suggestions to solve those and the situation to which they could apply.

    Function: weatherBait/weatherPreset.
Used for: Fishing in certain weather conditions using different bait/presets. This mainly applies to Diadem fish, as you may not want to have the same preset active during the weather that has big fish, but it can also apply to catching any fish with frequent weather based windows.

    Function: holdCollectUntil/holdCollectFor/holdMoochUntil/holdMoochFor.
Used for: Certain fish with mooch or intuition requirements depend on other fish with windows. One such fish is the Stethacanthus. This fish requires two sculptors, which have a window of their own that may not overlap with Stethacanthus window, to trigger intuition. These fish are also very rare. The easiest way to catch them is to have collect active, double hook them, and wait until Stethacanthus’ window opens, then reject the collection. This places them in your inventory, and triggers intuition. Similarly, a fish like the Ruby Dragon has a similar situation with the fish it gets mooched from, the Ku’er. You would ideally catch an HQ Ku’er beforehand, and then hold it until the window for Ruby Dragon starts before mooching it to guarantee at least one chance at catching the Ruby Dragon.

    Function: switchBaitAfterCatching/switchPresetAfterCatching/switchBaitAfterIntuition/switchPresetAfterIntuition.
Used for: Some fish, like the Sea Butterfly, require multiple fish to trigger intuition. The ideal bait for these fish is also different in some cases. You would want to use red balloons to catch the Sky Faeries, and the Giant Crane Fly for the Scorpionflies. You can also try to get Scorpionflies from mooching Sky Faeries, but after the third one it’s faster to switch to not mooch them and go for a straight catch with Double Hook. This would be possible with a preset change and a bait change after catching the 3 Sky Faeries when intuition isn’t active yet, and then again during and after intuition.

Feature: Double Hook for specific bite sizes and/or bite windows.
Used for: Sometimes a fish you want to catch has a specific bite size, and you want to double hook it, but you don’t want to limit it to only catching the corresponding fish size. This would for instance be if you mooch a fish, and all fish from the mooch are desired, but the small bite is a fish with high value. As an example, this applies to the diadems Gobbiemask, which is worth a lot of points, but the other fish aren’t worth nearly as many, so you want to preserve the Double Hook for the small bite, but still get the other fish as well.

Feature: Precise/Powerful hook when patience is active, without reactivating patience.
Used for: Some fish get intuition from a fish that is mooched, but the fish itself doesn’t require mooching. This would mean that if you trigger intuition, you might still have Patience active, and want to use the correct hook to avoid missing the catch, but you don’t want to have it reactivated when you don’t need it when you can better spend the GP on something else, like Chum.

Thank you for reading, and don’t worry too much about implementing these suggestions. They are just things that would be nice to have, but Miqo works well enough as it is for these situations with some extra manual oversight.

re: the observation fishing, it’s actually a decent strategy. one of the most reliable rotations (albeit incredibly slow) used observation fishing to push out max/near max experts. I used this strategy a bit and often had 200+ CP left over by the time I was ready to use Byregot’s.

I think it would be a feature most useful for scenarios, as making a scenario and sharing it would let many people profit and the work would only need to be done once. I agree it’s a bit of work, but I can get the info easily with Miqo+ACT with Cactbots fishing overlay, so when it’s a feature I can release a tutorial on setting it up to gather info.

In normal use cases I don’t see it used a lot, just scenarios for farming things. My current white scrip project, based on fishing, which gets me about 300-700 white scrips per hour but needs some more fixing to not break (miqo doesn’t always land properly with the waypoints, so still testing/adjusting), would profit from it. It needs to catch a medium fish, but only in a certain bite window, the other medium fish are useless. It uses cordials on cooldown, and loses versatile lures in the process, so not exactly cheap to run, but it’s fast enough. I think I could get about 5-10% extra per hour by ignoring the wrong medium fish.

Thank you for providing this information.
We will see if we can introduce better tools for advanced fishing configuration.

In the meantime, we would recommend using a single preset for Kuno the Killer, regardless of the Fisher’s Intuition buff.

    • Precision Hook.
    • Powerful Hook.
    • Patience 2.

And let the ingame RNG handle the mooch chains naturally.
Of course, this would not be 100% optimal. But considering the fact that Fisher’s Intuition stays active for 24 minutes after catching Canavan, Miqobot should have plenty of time to utilize it.

In addition, it should be noted that Goldfish has a 55% chance to be converted into Assassin Betta, therefore it is not necessary to remove it from the mooch chain for optimal performance.

This preset was used by our developers during testing and it worked without issues.

Mooch presets always take priority over intuition and non-intuition presets.

Is there a way to make it use a different preset if intuition is active AND a specific mooch fish is caught, but not unless those two conditions are met at the same time?

No, there is no such option at the moment.
Would you please give us an example of fish that requires this configuration? We are planning a redesign of scenario fishing functions, so additional data will be useful for research.

I was wondering how it works if there are conflicting presets, like for fish that need intuition and mooching and you have a noIntuitionPreset, an intiutionPreset, and a moochPreset active at the same time? Which one takes priority? Is there a way to make it use a different preset if intuition is active AND a specific mooch fish is caught, but not unless those two conditions are met at the same time?

I’m wondering if Miqobot can create an identical cast function for the Fishing tab as well for scenario.

    It would presumably look/function like:

    IdenticalCastIf(Fullmoon Sardine)

The function would use the skill Identical Cast if
    1: There is enough GP
2: Your level is high enough for the skill and you have the skill on your hotbar
3: You just caught a Fullmoon Sardine

Without using Scenario and only using the Fishing Tab, one would just leave it blank/unchecked or input the name of the fish that he/she wants to identical cast.

Miqobot won’t sit while fishing even though the sit option is toggled on. Please help.

For fishing, is there a reason a dialog box needs to pop up when you manually press finish? Seems kinda redundant to need an alert telling you that you finished fishing after pressing finish yourself.

Hi. I’m looking for a bot that can repeat the same crafting recipe 1000 times using quick synthesis, for each crafting class. Also I want a bot that can fish repeatedly in the same spot for as long as needed (or until I run out of bait/lures). It needs to run while I am afk. Is it possible to do this with the bot while you are afk?

I would like to use this to level fishing from level one would this be good for leveling? And what bait would I need while in diadem?

I’ve got most classes to 80 and have used miqobot in dungeons/trials/raids including savage and left it running on target dummy in 480 gear so my comments below should cover a wide range of situations. Within each category they are ordered roughly in order of my preference for combat assist. Note this is accurate as of writing on v1.3.33 of miqobot. Some of the changes are so minor and seemingly so easy to implement (e.g. scorch on RDM) that I expect they will be fixed in the next major release. Some jobs however like BLM, MNK, DRG and AST I would never recommend using miqobot for anything other than casual content until some kind of specific raid module is included. Note also that the dps I have quoted is without any interventions, expect it to be a bit higher if you do the interventions I mention.

    Tanks:
For tanks I’m only going to talk about the single target rotation as I wouldn’t recommend using miqobot in dungeons since its hard to hold enmity without miqobot switching targets correctly.

    WAR ~9.5k
Does not weave in onslaught optimally and seems to sit at 2 stacks of infuriate and not dump beast gauge enough so you often clip some of it off. Given this though it performs everything else almost perfect and does decently high dps with no interventions required so would recommend.

    GNB ~9k
Only skill it doesn’t use is bloodfest which you don’t have to weave in perfectly optimally to make good use of. Does everything else basically perfect. I can recommend playing since you still do respectable dps even without bloodfest, however you may want to try and weave it in.

    DRK ~8.5k
Pretty much the only skill it doesn’t use is living shadow, which you can use manually yourself but it is a pain to line it up optimally. It does save mana for blackest night which is nice, but obviously you don’t have the burst you usually would from dumping all your mana if you were playing it manually. Can only recommend playing if you don’t mind keeping track of living shadow and using it optimally, otherwise its a huge dps loss.

    PLD ~7.5k
Does not use Atonement or Confiteor which breaks a lot of the nice timing and transition of PLD causing a pretty huge dps loss that only gets worse as the fight goes on and you don’t recover your mana quickly for the spells phase. Can not recommend.

    Healers:
Again only talking about ST dps also I never use miqobot to do any kind of healing as I like to do that myself.

    SCH ~8.5k
Seems to work almost perfectly, while it doesn’t dump energy drain right at the start to be optimal its actually better that it leaves it as you can go basically full auto on the dps since it will only use energy drain when aetherflow is about to come back up. Highly recommended.

    WHM ~10k
Doesn’t do the optimal opener and doesn’t weave assize perfectly but I mean it spams glare nicely. I personally don’t use it because whm is the easiest rotation in the game and actually breaks my rhythm more than anything, but obviously it works nicely 🙂

    AST ~7.5k
Only spams malefic and combust, doesn’t use earthly star even if you macro it correctly, doesn’t use lightspeed and doesn’t buff self with cards at all. Would not recommend at all especially since there’s a lot of complexity with fishing for cards to put on your highest damage dealers and to proc divination etc..

    DPS:
I’ve used dps in all situations including in dungeons with aoe so below comments will reflect that.

    MCH ~ 14k
This is the best job to use with miqobot hands down. The only things it gets wrong are wildfire timings and not using flamethrower on aoe everything else is near flawless and its completely handfree. You don’t have to worry about cast times can just move completely freely and let miqobot take over. Highly Recommended.

    SMN ~ 15k
Works almost perfectly, uses an almost flawless rotation and you even have moments where you can run around totally hands free e.g. phoenix phase. Only thing I’ve noticed is that it seems to overuse ruin II quite heavily in that basically every time you move it will use it, when waiting to recast ruin III would be preferable. Also on adds it seems to want to cast miasma even on things that will die within a few seconds and be basically pointless. Given this though still highly recommended.

    RDM ~ 14k
Works great, only thing it doesn’t do for whatever reason is scorch which is easy to do manually and requires no scheduling. You will also probably want to either turn off dashes and backsteps and do them manually or take out displacement as it will use it when you don’t want to and backflip you to death. Recommended if you don’t mind pressing scorch every minute or so and manually doing the dashes.

    NIN ~ 13k
Only thing it doesn’t use is bunshin, everything else it does very well. I don’t know the optimal ninja rotation manually so I can’t comment on how optimal it is but it seems to do a good job. If you’re happy to weave in bunshin and keep track of your positionals then this is a good job to use.

    SAM ~ 13.5k
Doesn’t use shoha, but you can weave it in as best as possible. Still does respectable dps even given this just you will want to keep track of your position and maybe turn off dashes as it will prioritise those if you’re away from the boss and if you’re trying to do ex or savage content this will wipe you or the group. Would only recommend if you already know SAM well enough to weave in dashes and shoha.

    BLM ~ 14k
Doesn’t use any 70+ skills and also will just dump leylines wherever which is very inconvenient and either gives away the fact you’re botting or makes you look like a bad BLM. The hard part of playing BLM is the positioning anyway and not the rotation so would not recommend unfortunately.

    Non-80:
These I don’t have at 80 but have them all at 70+ so comments will reflect that.

    BRD
Totally hands free at 70, assume it doesn’t use apex arrow or burst shot yet so those will have to be weaved in somehow.

    DRG
Works nicely at 70, but of course have to make sure dashes is turned on otherwise 50% of your dps disappears. I would highly not recommend using miqobot on this for any kind of ex or savage content however as playing with dashes turned on will get you or your raid killed.

    MNK
Hard to use correctly if you don’t have blind positionals turned on, which I would not recommend using too much as it will make you look very suspicious most of the time and doesn’t work at all in ex or savage content. Not sure about 80 skills, but assume it doesn’t use them and I wouldn’t use it anyway because of the other problems.

    DNC
Works perfectly at 70, you of course still have to select a dance partner. Not sure if it uses 70+ skills like flourish, saber dance and improvisation but will assume not.

Why are there no single nav grids for regions that cover everything (all nodes / fishing / maybe some npc locations, ect ect)
is there a downside to a nav that large ?

You know… This has been on my mind a while now. It would probably fall under QoL updates, but how about Miqobot gets multiple thought bubbles to reflect what she is doing? Crossed swords for combat assist, turning gears for crafting preparation, a fish for fishing, coins for MGP minigames, chocobo for chocobo racing, and probably some more I can’t think of right now.

If this is something not out of the question, I wouldn’t mind to commission half body artworks and donating them for that cause. Adds quite a bit of character if you ask me.
