Auto pause for chat – Combat

When I have this option on sometimes my chat opens randomly and combat stops? How can I stop this? (I don’t press enter)

This issue usually indicates that you haven’t removed keybind conflicts from chat actions.
You can find instructions on how to avoid this problem in the [Beta] Combat thread.

If you use the common WASD style for navigation, there’s a very high chance that a keybind collision will occur if Miqobot sends key input at the same time.
For example, if you assign Alt+1 – Alt+= to a hotbar Miqobot uses at the moment and press S at the same time, the resulting keybind will become Alt+S which by default triggers “Temporarily Switch Chat Mode to Say”. This will activate the chat mode in the middle of the fight and break your movement completely.

Wait, does miqobot work similarly to BMP where you’re unable to use keyboard input while it’s running?

You can use keyboard for other things while Miqo is running in the background. But not for chatting in the game because that would be a hack. Hence the pause feature.

Miqobot operates by sending keyboard inputs to FFXIV directly, even if it’s in the background or minimised. It doesn’t simulate you actually pressing keys (at the system level), just provides fake keyboard input to the game. You can use the keyboard for other stuff while Miqobot’s running, but you cannot interact with the game – in any way, keyboard or otherwise – without fighting her for control. IIRC, a few features auto-pause themselves when you activate chat now, but not all of them, and only chat. If you try to move your character while Miqo is also trying to do so, you’ll both be in conflict.

Generally speaking, except for the combat/gathering assist features (which are very explicitly only an assist and still relies on you to do the moving), you should not be interacting with your game window while Miqobot is working.

If you want to have access to chat, I personally recommend using XIVLauncher with the XIVChat plugin and buying the $5 XIVChat client, to have a separate window for it.
